Kylie's 2008 Year
| Kylie's pages are divided up by each year so we can show lots of photos of her and our dogs as they interact together. Kylie spends her weekends here at Grandma and Grandpa's house so she is able to interact with our Cavalier King Charles Spaniels on a regular basis. |

Oh my...Kylie is 10 months old we must get started on our handling lessons...she has so much to learn before she can become a junior handler. There is a lot of behind the scenes work that must be taken care of before the dogs can even begin to get prepared.
First, a new handler must learn how to open and close crates in order to safely house their fur babies while on the road showing. In order to do this properly it is very important to inspect all areas of the cage as a safety precaution. Notice the blue towel placed across the bottom of the cage doorway...this is to protect delicate paws that might get caught accidently while climbing in or out of the cage.
|
OK...Kylie has given us the go ahead that this cage is safe and secure and ready for the next show dog.

Next Dog Lesson, House Training
House training is a very important element in having a bunch of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels walking all around your house. We must show these Cavaliers how to use their personal doggy door so they can properly let themselves out to go do their business outside.
|
Wow...this doggy door thing really works...what a success!

We visited the Wichita Mountains Refuge that is located near our home. These photos were taken at the top of Mt. Scott where there is a wonderful view of the countryside.

Kylie is 11 months old now and has begun some basic show training with the Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. The Cavaliers need to learn to pay close attention to their handler in the show ring and stay in a standing show position until it is their turn for evaluation. The handler must keep their dog's attention for extended periods of time using bait. Notice Star, black & tan, in the bottom photo...she is one of our experienced show dogs and she is really exhibiting well for Kylie.

Kylie is 18 months old now so this was her first time to really experience Halloween. Kylie is dressed up as Lady from Disney's Lady and the Tramp. I wonder if Lady was a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel? Grandpa (my husband, Wendell) is designated carrier from house to house while I drive the car around slowly. Of course, we had to get a photo of Kylie's very first house...we received a bit of a cry when the candy was supposed to go into the bag, but by house #3 she realized the candy was supposed to go in the bag and quickly received her candy, gave a sweet "Thank You" to the candy giver and was ready to travel down the road to the next house. Kylie's favorite candy this year were the original M&Ms since they are the perfect size for her to eat easily and not make too much of a mess with. After we visited about 20 houses we went to our Church's annual Halloween bash and Kylie's costume was a big hit with our church family since our church family already knows my love for my Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.

Kylie is 20 months old now so this was her first time to really experience Christmas. She tickled us greatly when she opened her first package and said, "COOL!". It was our first time to hear her say that word and the timing of it was so perfect. My husband, Wendell, made me a rocking chair for Christmas so Kylie also decided to test it out and it has met her approval.
