When Cruiser matured and was ready to embark on his first appearance in the show ring. I found it very helpful to obtain a professional handler in order to learn the ropes of this fascinating new world of canine wonders.
Cruiser began conformation showing at 15 months of age when he attended his first show in Shawnee, Oklahoma on May 26, 2006 handled by Professional Dog Handler Linda Clark, AKC, DHG, PHA and assisted beautifully by Karen Beardslee. Cruiser won Winners Dog ("W"), Best of Winners ("BW"), Best of Breed ("BB"), and represented the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel in the Toy Group his very first time out in the show ring. Cruiser attended several more shows after Shawnee and on September 29, 2006 in Lubbock, Texas Cruiser won "W" & Opposite Sex ("OS") and was awarded his last 2 points needed, thus earning the title AKC Champion. What a wonderful ride Cruiser took us on in just four short months earning his championship title, which was very remarkable for a black and tan Cavalier. Whole colors have a more difficult time in the show ring since the broken colors tend to rule, but Cruiser managed to place every time he walked into the ring.
Our thanks go out to Linda Clark and her assistant, Karen Beardslee for all their love and support.
