Try to keep your Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy in a crate or designated area without carpeting while you are in the process of house training. You can put a washable rug down in their area for better traction if you have them in an enclosed area that is tile or vinyl flooring. Only have your Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy out for snuggles and play when you can devote your complete attention to them, otherwise it is best to keep them in their designated area in your home during the training process.

Designate a specific area in your yard also for your Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy to eliminate at and always return to the same area each time during outdoor potty breaks. You will want to take your Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy outside to eliminate after every meal, drink, and nap/sleep no matter how long they slept. You will also want to take them out every 2 hours for the first week then work up to 3 hours the second week and so on. If you hit a period where you need to go out more frequently just back up and return to the time frame that best suits your Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy at that time.

If you have a male Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy or adult you can purchase a belly wrap that wraps around their body. It is a straight piece of fabric sewn together to form a padded wrap and velcro is attached to each end. You just wrap it around their belly covering their private area underneath and velcro the wrap on top of their back. If a male has an accident in the house the wrap will catch it. The wrap is not used to protect against bowel movements, but Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppies usually circle around back and forth several times before a bowel movement and if you are giving them full supervision it is easy to realize they need to go outside. The belly wrap can be removed quickly to go outside so this is one added benefit obtained when adopting a male Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy over a female Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy. They do make panties for females usually used during seasonal periods, but I have found with female Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppies that the panties do not work well and make it too difficult for them to walk around and do not recommend putting panties on female Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppies. Belly wraps can be purchased online through specialty websites and eBay has a huge selection priced more economically than the specialty websites. Measure your male Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy around the waist area and then try to add a few inches to the length then check sizes on eBay listings. Always try to go a little bigger to compensate for growing and you can always add some additional velcro if the size is too large.

House training is actually very easy if you use consistency and keep your Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy in a crate when supervision is not possible. If you are home, but busy doing something then that is not supervision and your Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy should be in a crate, but have the crate nearby so your Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy can see you and feel like he/she is still involved.
