*** Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Puppies ***
NOTE: Words printed in red and underlined are links to a separate page with additional information on that specific topic.
Each Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy has been given necessary parasite prevention, is litter box trained and/or in the process of being outdoor trained, is microchipped with Home Again, and current on all vaccinations before placement. Puppies are available to go to their new homes after 10 weeks of age.
Caring for a new puppy is pretty easy if you are ready to take on the committment needed. Puppies need to be socialized and given a consistent routine early on to help them feel happy and secure. There are many things to consider like what is the best dog food to feed, what types of grooming supplies will a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel need, and how to baby proof your home before your new puppy comes home. |

We are constantly reviewing our Breed Standard as we consider each pairing. Breed standards are written in a way where each individual's perception is different, but breeders who are showing in the conformation show ring have the ability to receive continued viewpoints from judges, club members, and their piers. While this may not seem important for a puppy buyer looking for a pet; the closer your puppy is to structural soundness the better your puppy will feel, move, and it affects the general health of your puppy throughout its lifetime.
Our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppies are from parents who are health tested annually. Here at Cruisin Cavaliers we submit all our health tests to the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) database which is accessible by the public. On our litter pages we will list a link to each parents health certifications where you can print them out and research additional ancestry health certifications on the OFA website. Our litter pages can be viewed from the information page and to reach the information page you need to fill out the short puppy questionnaire located on the Contact Us page, which will automatically take you to the information page where our litter pages are listed.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and every other breed of canine including mixed breeds are going to have health issues sometime during their lifetime. Recessive genes can go generations before exhibiting symptoms in one unexpected offspring. We give a 1 yr health guarantee on all our offspring until their first birthday, but I highly recommend pet insurance from www.gopetplan.com. This specific insurance does not cover routine care, but covers unexpected injuries or illnesses and must be purchased prior to needing it as it does not cover pre-exisitng medical conditions. Pet insurance is becoming more common and I hope you will consider insurance...just in case the unexpected happens.
Two common issues in Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppies are undescended testicles in males and umbilical hernias in both genders. These conditions are NOT life threatening and during the spay/neuter process they can both be corrected. Please visit our health page for more information regarding health issues for Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.

Our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppies are dual registered with the American Kennel Cluc (AKC) and the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club, USA (CKCSC, USA). We handle all the fees involved with tranferring registration of your puppy into your name for both registries. Each Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy comes with a written sales and 1 year health guarantee, copies of each parent's pedigree and OFA health certifications, a copy of the CKCSC Code of Ethics, and registration information if you would like to join the CKCSC, USA club.
Our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppies are structurally evaluated at 8 weeks of age, but evaluations begin at birth and continue well after 8 weeks. When raising a litter of puppies I always stay open to any color or gender that is presented to me with each litter and as they develope I am able to determine which puppy is better suited as a companion pet and which one is asking to be the center of attention and might just turn into our next show prospect.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniels need to either have a fenced in backyard or they need to be walked on a leash. Cavalier King Charles Spaniels can live just fine in an apartment, but will need at least two 30 minute walks twice a day along with short potty breaks from time to time throughout the day. Cavalier King Charles Spaniels must always be walked on a leash if you do not have a fenced in backyard because they are spaniels and their instinct to chase anything that moves would land them underneath the wheels of cars. Cavalier King Charles Spaniels will not ever become street smart so keeping them on a leash or in a fenced in yard is always going to be mandatory. Electric fences are NOT recommended because other predators could still come through putting your Cavalier King Charles Spaniel at risk.
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels can learn to live with a swimming pool in their yard, but precautions must be taken if you have a swimming pool. There must be easy access to an area where your Cavalier can safely get out of the pool without your assistance. |

Cavalier King Charles Spaniels love and need companionship. If your Cavalier is NOT able to be with you or another person for most of the day having another pet can give your Cavalier added companionship. Your other pet can be a another dog of any breed or a cat as long as they are introduced with supervision and once the bond is formed they can be left together whenever you are away. Cavaliers need to have some kind of companionship in order to thrive. I also recommend considering three pets if one of your pets is in their senior years. Cavaliers can go through a very difficult time if they loose their furry companion, so having three pets can help this unavoidable side of life.

Not every family gets all four colors...One might wonder how breeders handle letting their puppies and especially their older retired dogs go off to live with other families. I have been blessed by the wonderful families that have come along through the years, but this family has become very special.
Renee called me over three years ago when her Blenheim Cavalier passed away suddenly from an unexpected turn of events during surgery from the anesthesia...he was only two years old. Their tri-color girl pictured here, Snickers was suddenly an only dog and they were grieving the loss of their beloved Starbucks.
They opened their home up to Cinnabon who is the Blenheim boy pictured here. When they came to pick Cinnabon up at 10 weeks of age they also fell head over heals in love with Cruiser...click here to read more about our Cruiser Man! Cruiser was our first Cavalier...our first champion...and we named our kennel after him...so let me tell you he is a VERY SPECIAL BOY! A year or so went by and Renee and her family moved from Wyoming to Florida and once moved they were ready for a Cruiser offspring...however, at that time I was ready to retire Cruiser and gave them the opportunity to open their home once again to a third Cavalier. Cruiser settled in very quickly as I knew he would. Another year or so went by and Cracker Jack became available so I asked Renee if she was ready to have all four colors...as you can see here she said yes.
No, not every family gets all four colors, but I am blessed to meet wonderful families like Renee's family who I can build lifelong friendships with through the years. Luckily, Renee's son lives in Edmond, Oklahoma and they are huge Oklahoma SOONERS fans just like my husband and I. They travel from Florida to Oklahoma on a regular basis to see their son and granddaughter and of course all the dogs come too. Their first stop in Oklahoma is always our house where I can catch up on hugs and kisses from my boys.
