Cruisin Cavaliers began in 2005 when I, Cindi Rackler, purchased my first Black & Tan Cavalier named Cruiser who went on to become my first AKC Champion. Cruiser and I also volunteered doing therapy work for two years where Cruiser earned another title, and we trained for a short period of time in agility and at our very first agility trial we surprised ourselves with an agility title as well...WOW, what a dog! Cruiser is retired now, but I could not have asked for a better Cavalier to get me hooked on this wonderful breed. Cruiser lives on through our kennel name, which was named after him...AKC Ch Crystalridge's Cruisin Rackler CGC, TDIA, TG1. Our thanks goes out to Reita Swinney of Crystalridge Cavaliers for her guidance and mentoring us during our beginning.
We also want to thank Marilyn Mayfield of Mayfield Cavaliers who entrusted us with a lovely girl who went on to become our foundation. Her name was Mayfield Magic Eclipse also known as Star. Star has several worthy kennels behind her such as Harana, Turretbank, Moorfields and Redthea just to mention a few and the Moorfields and Redthea kennels were the first Cavaliers for Marilyn Mayfield so I am honored to have her humble beginnings a few generations behind mine and the generations in between were carefully planned by Marilyn herself. While Star really did not enjoy the show ring, she gave us 4 lovely litters and the only color she ever produced was Black & Tan. Her first litter with BISS AKC CAN Ch Campanards Mr Sweden at Vesta ROM was the most magical litter of all giving us our wonderful Cruisin Minnie Mouse. We have leaned over the years that whole colors can take longer to mature so while they may have a tough road against the Blenheim and Tri Colors in their younger days just wait until they reach maturity and they can sure take those parti colors on in style!
I am located in Southwest Oklahoma about 45 minutes South of Oklahoma City, or one hour North of Wichita Falls, Texas off Interstate 44 (referred to as the HE Bailey Turnpike). We are also about a three hour drive Northwest of Denton, Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas.
I am a member of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club (CKCSC), the Town & Country Kennel Club (Oklahoma All-Breed Club), and the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club of North Texas (CKCSC-NT). I also maintain the CKCSC-NT website along with a few other websites including our own so if you have any suggestions or information you think we should post on our website just let us know.
I do my best to reach out to newcomers who are interested in learning more about Cavaliers from a showing stand point first and then a breeders stand point second. Anyone can pair two dogs together and create puppies. It takes dedication and an eye for critiquing a dog and understanding proper balance, movement, and above all proper temperament while at the same time being vigilent on health certifications to ensure we continue to strive for a well-balanced Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. I have created a Mentoring page to introduce the wonderful new friendships I have also encountered through the common love of Cavaliers. We attend shows together and share our ups and downs with each other. The world of dogs is full of politics and legislative issues that affect us all individually, but the friendships gained through mentoring have become an added treat I did not expect to encounter when I set out to get my first Cavalier.
